international formula racing WITH step motorsport
The International Automobile Federation (FIA) established the Formula 4 class as the obvious national entry class for young racing drivers who want to switch from karting to circuit racing.
The formula has proven successful, and with championships in over 20 countries, there are plenty of opportunities to start your career here.
After four successful seasons in the Danish Formula 4/Nordic 4 championship, it is time for STEP Motorsport to take the next step.
STEP Motorsport will participate in 2026 with three drivers in Formula 4 Central European Zone. The opportunity to race against other young talents in the same equipment provides the optimal starting point for driver development – and that is what we are here for.
In addition to participating in Nordic 4, our drivers are also affiliated with STEP Academy, where we work with media training, career planning and sponsor search as important topics.
FROM KARTING TO INTERNATIONAL RACING
The transition from karting to track racing requires more than just a change in driving technique. If you want your career to offer international opportunities, it is essential to learn the craft from the ground up. The Formula 4 car is a perfect platform for drivers to learn how to work with both the car’s physical grip and the aerodynamic grip from the wings.
Driving technique and mechanical understanding are essential when joining international teams as a racing driver, as is the ability to interpret data from the car. However, STEP Motorsport is about much more than just driving fast on the track:
Our drivers are trained in sponsorship work and media management – as a racing driver, sponsorship and PR are an important part of everyday life, and the better you are at it, the easier it is to be considered for exciting opportunities and sponsorships.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP
Formula 4 is a natural development of previous youth classes such as Formula Ford, Formula Opel/Lotus, etc., but with much higher safety standards and stricter technical regulations. Both of these factors contribute to making Formula 4 a cheaper and much safer youth class.
Formula 4 is based on the Formula 4 concept developed by the International Automobile Federation (FIA), specifically for the critical transition between karting and motor racing, and the path onwards via Formula 3, Formula 2 and ultimately Formula 1.
The overall aim of the class is to help the next generation of talent further their careers.
