The Nordic 4 Danish Champion is shifting gears toward prototype racing and Le Mans as he makes his debut in the Radical Cup Scandinavia with STEP Motorsport in 2025.
Following a highly successful campaign in the Danish Nordic 4 Championship, STEP Motorsport is expanding its activities with a fleet of cars in the Radical Cup Scandinavia. The lightweight and high-speed Radical SR3 serves as an ideal stepping stone for drivers moving from formula cars to prototypes or GT racing—offering both competitive and economic advantages.
For 18-year-old Copenhagen-based racer Mathias Bjerre Jakobsen, this next chapter builds on an already promising career. Last year, he tested a 450-horsepower LMP3 prototype during a test day in Portugal, and after New Year, he will participate in the Prototype Winter Series in an LMP3 car—an opportunity facilitated by his collaboration with STEP Motorsport. With his Danish Championship secured, Mathias is ready to advance toward an international endurance racing career:
“Last year, I had the chance to test an LMP3 racer, and it confirmed my ambition to pursue this career path. I already know that working with STEP Motorsport suits me perfectly, so committing to Radical Cup Scandinavia next year was an easy decision,” says Mathias Bjerre Jakobsen, who clinched this year’s Nordic 4 Championship with STEP Motorsport.
While new challenges lie ahead, Mathias is eager to embrace this next step in his career:
“There are many new tracks and a different style of racing to adapt to, so I definitely have a lot to learn. It’s a big advantage to already know the team and have them know me. I’m excited to hit the track and represent our team across Scandinavia.”

Team Principal Morten Dons is equally enthusiastic about continuing his collaboration with Mathias:
“It’s incredibly rewarding to follow a driver’s progression over multiple seasons, and Mathias has tremendous potential to build on. I’m thrilled we can take this next major step in both his development and STEP Motorsport’s growth together. I’m confident we’ll have a challenging and successful season in Radical Cup Scandinavia,” says Morten Dons.
The Radical Cup Scandinavia schedule will take Mathias Bjerre Jakobsen and STEP Motorsport to tracks like Anderstorp, Gelleråsen, Rudskogen, and Ring Knutstorp, with the season finale at Denmark’s own FDM Jyllandsringen.
